The years 2011 through 2015 mark the 150th anniversary (or sesquicentennial) of the American Civil War.  To help commemorate this anniversary, municipalities throughout Virginia have appointed sesquicentennial committees to help organize local events.

Charlotte County's Sesquicentennial Committee has a number of activities planned that will focus on local participation in the Civil War.  In accordance with the intent of the state's Sesquicentennial Commission, it is our hope that these events will be meaningful to our citizens, will portray a fair and balanced picture of the Civil War and will help create a renewed interest in local history.
